Are The Catholics Right To Claim That Human-Animal Embryo Experiments Are A Blasphemy To God?

I don't ever want to see religion of any denomination having a say in what laws are enacted in this country. However, I am rather uneasy about this prospect but I don't really have enough information to make an informed judgement.
